Performance Bio

 

Meredith Ziegler, mezzo-soprano, has been praised for her “stunning voice” and “delightful portrayals,” captivating audiences with her warm lyric tone and expressive stage presence.

 

A versatile performer on both opera and concert stages, Ms. Ziegler’s leading roles include Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), and Dido (Dido and Aeneas). She has also appeared as Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti), Hänsel (Hänsel & Gretel), and Meg Page (Falstaff), performing with companies including Opera Company of Middlebury, Opera Theater of Connecticut, Granite State Opera, Cape Cod Opera, Connecticut Lyric Opera, and Opera North. As a Resident Artist with Connecticut Opera, she performed the roles of Mercedes (Carmen), Zulma (L’Italiana in Algeri), and Inez (Il Trovatore). She has also appeared with the Metropolitan Opera, as a member of the Extra Chorus.

 

A frequent concert soloist, Ms. Ziegler has appeared in a wide range of repertoire, including Bach’s Magnificat with Mystic River Chorale, Schubert’s Mass in E-flat with the Greater Middletown Chorale, and multiple performances of Handel’s Messiah, including appearances with the Sherman Chamber Ensemble, Falmouth Chorale, and University of Connecticut. Additional concert engagements include Rutter’s Magnificat and Handel’s Messiah with the Falmouth Chorale, Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été with the Holyoke Civic Symphony, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with the New Haven Oratorio Choir. She has also been featured as a soloist with the Farmington Valley Chorale. Internationally, Ms. Ziegler has performed in Graz, Austria as a soloist with the AIMS Festival Orchestra in Bernstein’s Arias & Barcarolles.

 

Ms. Ziegler holds degrees in music and music education from the University of Connecticut and has been a young artist with Opera North, Connecticut Opera, and AIMS in Graz. She is a prizewinner in competitions including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Sullivan Foundation, Palm Beach Opera, the Connecticut Opera Guild, and Opera Theater of Connecticut.

 

In addition to her performing career, she serves on the voice faculties of the University of Connecticut and Western Connecticut State University and maintains an active private studio.
